Free YouTube Title Generator: Get AI-Powered Catchy YouTube Video Title Ideas for Your Channel
If you want catchy titles for your videos, this free YouTube title generator is just what you need. It’s AI-powered and designed to come up with unique SEO-friendly, engaging titles that grab attention—and it gives you lots of different options to pick from, so you can choose a title that’s perfect for your brand and audience.
How to Use the YouTube Title Generator
We designed our free YouTube Title Generator to be super simple to use, but let’s run through it step by step, before taking a more in-depth look at how it works.
Step 1. Enter a Topic or Description for Your Video
First, you’ll need to give the AI a clear topic or description for your video, so it knows what it’s about. Go ahead and type this into the box.
Step 2. Generate Your List of Potential Video Titles
Once you’ve entered your topic or description, click the “Generate” button and the AI will instantly come up with a set of 10 great video title options for you:
See a title you love? Click the Copy button on the right to copy it to your clipboard. You can then paste it into YouTube Studio, your content calendar, or anywhere else you want.
Step 3. (Optional) Create Additional Titles
Not quite happy with any of the generated titles? You can create more: just scroll to the bottom of the list and click the “Generate More” button.
If you want to save your titles to look through at a later stage, use the “Export as CSV” button to download a .CSV (spreadsheet) file.
Bonus: Use My Free YouTube SEO Checklist Alongside This Tool
Great titles are just one part of YouTube search engine optimization (SEO). If you want your video content to rank high in YouTube search and in Google too, here’s my personal checklist you can use.
- Use my YouTube Keyword Research tool (or “search suggest”) for keyword research
- Select a suitable keyword and include this in your video’s title
- Use this keyword (plus any secondary keywords) in your video description too
- Look at trending videos in your niche and use the same tags & hashtags where relevant
- The Tags box limits you to 500 characters, so put your most important tags in first
- Encourage viewers to like, subscribe, or share your video—this can help your video rank
- Add an eye-catching thumbnail (improves click-through rates—and your ranking)
- When you’re recording, say your keyword at least once, so it’ll be in your transcript
How Does This YouTube Title Generator Work to Create the Best YouTube Title Ideas?
This AI title generator tool will always come up with unique titles for you. It’s not copying titles from anywhere or using pre-set templates: instead, it’s creating the perfect titles based on your video topic. This means you can safely use the title suggestions without worrying about plagiarism.
The AI’s algorithms prioritize titles that are attention-grabbing and click-worthy. It doesn’t do this through gimmicks (like clickbait titles), but instead creates SEO-optimized titles that will resonate with your target audience.
We set this free tool to come up with 10 title options each time so that you’ve got plenty to choose from—as a title that’s spot-on for one content creator might not be ideal for another.
When choosing a compelling title, we recommend thinking about:
- Does the title include your target keyword? (If not, could you easily tweak it by changing a word or two?)
- Are there any power words in your title? Words like quick, easy, powerful, essential, ultimate, smart, eye-opening, remarkable, etc can all grab attention.
- Is this a good YouTube title for your audience? Will the language used or the solution hinted at resonate with the people who you want to attract to your YouTube channel?
Remember, if you want more titles to choose from, just click the “Generate More” button at the bottom of your list. You can also run the Title Generator again with a tweaked topic or description.
YouTube Title Generator FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)
Got questions about using the AI Video Title Generator tool … or about coming up with great YouTube titles in general? Here’s everything you need to know.
Is this tool only suitable for YouTube?
No! You can use this Title Generator for any type of video for any social media platform or vlog. It’s geared up to standard length videos, but you can also use it for YouTube shorts, Reels, TikTok, etc just by adding “[for YouTube Shorts]” at the end of your topic, like this:
Can I use this tool to come up with video ideas if I don’t have an idea yet?
This tool is designed as a title maker, so it assumes you already have a clear idea (this is what you give the tool in the topic/description box).
However, you can use it with a very broad topic, and your title suggestions will cover a range of possible ideas and angles on that topic, like this:
Even better, use my dedicated YouTube Video Ideas tool to come up with lots of video content creation ideas for any niche.
What should I avoid in YouTube titles?
If you’re using the YouTube title generator, you can’t go wrong! But it’s useful to know a few things to steer clear of when you’re titling your videos yourself:
- Avoid vague titles like “Watch Now!” or “You Won’t Believe This!” They might sound eye-catching … but they don’t give your viewers any good reason to watch.
- Don’t use excessive capitalization or all caps (one or two words in caps is OK).
- Only use your keyword naturally: don’t stuff lots of keywords in.
- Be careful with long titles—YouTube lets you create titles up to 100 characters long, but it’s best to stick to 60-70 characters or your title may get cut off in search results.
- Steer clear of profanity unless it’s very mild (dang, damn, hell are all likely OK), as YouTube may age-restrict videos with stronger profanity and/or make them ineligible for monetization.
What can I do to improve a YouTube video title?
Got a title that’s almost there but that needs a little work? Try one or more of these:
- Consider including a number in your title: a list is an easy structure for your video.
- Use the word “You” or “Your” in the title to connect with your audience.
- Hint at the watch time, if that’s important to your audience (e.g. including a word like “Quick” or “Detailed”)
- Put the most important words at the start of your title, as longer titles may get cut off on mobile devices
- Use A/B testing (YouTube Studio has this built-in) to try out different titles: see which version gets the highest click-through rate.
