#69: Marketing Consultant and Founder of Credo, John Doherty on Growing a Diversified $30,000/mo Business

About the Episode:

In today’s episode, we’re hearing from John Doherty, a digital marketing consultant by trade who runs the popular matchmaking service, Credo, where they’ve paired over 7,500 brands with agencies and SEO providers. He’s also the founder of the content editing service EditorNinja.

Since John started his marketing career, he rose up to lead growth teams at companies like Trulia and HotPads (which are now owned by Zillow) before spending some time working at a digital marketing agency that exposed him to working with several Fortune 1,000 brands.

Eventually, he went out on his own as a marketing consultant, but it was that experience working in an agency that taught John a lot about just how difficult it is to find highly qualified marketing and SEO talent—a pain point he’d take on full force with his business, Credo.

In Today’s Episode, We Talk About:

[02:12] What book he’s reading at the moment.
[04:02] How he ended up in Denver.
[05:50] How he began his career as a marketer.
